  • Item Details
  • This a 12 Bladed mechanical iris. The primary body has a diameter of 8.4cm, the control handle sticking out by about 2cm. The height is 1.1cm. Composed of 5 STL files; Foundation, Spin Control, 6Blades and Cover. The 6Blades STL will of course have to be printed

  • I managed to print this on my Flash Forge Creator at a resolution of 0.15mm using 1.75 PLA. As one of the blades would pop off if I shut the Iris an excessive amount it definitely shoved the detail limits. Short assemble directions : (It's recommend to switch off raft and support construction settings, you will get a smoother finish, particularly on the blades) 1. The 12 blades should cut with the pegs facing upwards onto the foundation, the last few will be a bit crafty. The preceding blade should slide over. 2. With each blade peg fitting into a groove, the Twist control should fit snuggly. 3. The cover is pressed on, fitting a tad more than the Twist management. On some of the STLs is a little cylinder, before it prints the model this is meant to intercept any ooze from the print head. I discovered it is better to lose a little plastic for the benefit of time spent cleaning up the model when coping with preciseness.
