This is a marble bust of from Michelangelo's Masterpiece of Pietà. The Pietà is a subject in Christian artwork depicting the Virgin Mary cradling the dead body of Jesus, most commonly seen in sculpture. As such, it's a special type of the Lamentation of Christ, a scene from the Passion of Christ seen in cycles of the Life of Christ. When the Virgin and Christ are surrounded by other figures from the New Testament, the area is only called a Lamentation in English, although Pietà is frequently used for this and is the standard term in Italian.
